eRally Motorsport Ltd are based just outside Rosyth and have built the UK’s first fully electric competition rally car, based on the Renault Zoe.
This impressive looking rally car is aimed at junior rallying in the UK, to give competition drivers of the future a car that will not add to our air pollution problems, but will pave a way for clean motorsport in rallying. The eRally car has a 65kW electric motor, front-wheel drive, and is fitted out with adjustable competition suspension, seats, belts, roll cage and fire extinguishers. The 21kWh battery back give 25 miles of competition driving, or 80 miles on the road.
Finlay Retson, reigning Ecosse Junior Rally Champion, put the eRally car through its paces at Knockhill recently, where he achieved the fastest time of the day in an Autotest organised by the Ecosse Junior Rally Championship. The car will be out on a grand tour this year, drumming up support for building a series of new eRally cars for a championship to run alongside the Junior events.
eRally are not yet taking orders for the series, but are happy to take details for those interested.
